Craig JohnsonCraig D. Johnson is a founder and shareholder of Craig D. Johnson & Associates, P.C. Craig is admitted in both Colorado and Nebraska state bars, the federal district court bar of Colorado, and the United States Supreme Court. Craig has been providing legal services for clients in Colorado and nationwide since 1982. He has substantial experience in civil litigation, is a recognized expert in construction defect claims, personal injury, criminal law, transactional and business law, real estate and estate planning. Craig has committed himself to professional, ethical, and honest representation of his clients. In addition to his law practice, Craig has been involved in numerous civic and community activities, including but not limited to, being a co-founder of the Broomfield Community Foundation, and coaching high school and college wrestling for over 40 years.
Craig is a sports enthusiast, especially in wrestling. Craig has wrestled for over 50 years and continues to train and compete on both national and international levels. Craig is a five time world place winner in veterans world freestyle wrestling, including a World Championship title in 2016. |
Michael GarlanMichael Garlan is a Broomfield, Colorado native and is admitted to the Colorado state bar. Prior to joining Craig D. Johnson & Associates, P.C. in 2018, Mike's experience includes serving as a law clerk for the Hon. Steven Pelican in the 4th Judicial District of Colorado. Mike also spent over seven years as a Deputy Public Defender, first in Pueblo and later in Arapahoe. In that time, Mike represented thousands of clients in all manner of criminal proceedings from county court misdemeanors to serious felonies like murder and sexual assault. After leaving the Colorado State Public Defender Mike went into private practice where he continued to represent people in criminal matters as well as civil protection orders, municipal court cases, and administrative hearings at the Department of Revenue.
Mike enjoys spending time with his family fishing, hiking, camping, and exploring Colorado. Mike is an avid fisherman and loves to go fishing with his daughter. Mike is also a lifelong soccer fan and continues to play soccer in adult soccer leagues. Mike also enjoys cooking for family and friends. |

Jessica MezaJessica Meza attended the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and graduated from William Mitchell College of Law in 2007. She worked as an intern in the St. Paul Public Defenders Office for 3 years. After school, Jessica came to work for the Colorado State Public Defender and remained with them for 11 years. Over the years she has represented both juvenile and adults charged with homicide, sexual offenses, domestic violence, drug offenses, DUI/DWAIs, assault, theft, and other criminal offenses. Jessica also represents many clients who are victims of abuse. She can help victims maneuver the criminal justice system to make sure they are being properly understood and heard. She has represented both petitioners and defendants in restraining order hearings. Jessica is a fluent Spanish speaker and has experience advising clients on immigration related issues.
Jessica serves on several committees related to treatment of juveniles in detention and non-English speakers accessing services from the judicial system. In her free time, she enjoys yoga and doing outdoor activities with her family. |

Pa Yang, ParalegalPa is a certified paralegal at Craig D. Johnson & Associates, P.C. and a Broomfield High School graduate. Pa has worked in the legal field since 2007 with experience in the areas of litigation, employment law, and real estate. She supports attorneys Craig, Mike, and Jessica from beginning to end on all aspects of a case including drafting routine pleadings, e-filing, preparing for and assisting attorneys for mediation, arbitration, and trials. Pa also speaks fluent Hmong.
Outside the office, Pa loves spending time baking and decorating cakes, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family. |
Karla Gratton, BookkeeperKarla maintains the daily finances and payroll for Craig D. Johnson & Associates. She earned her Bachelor or Science degree in Business Administration, Production and Operations Management with a Minor in Marketing from Colorado State University. She has worked in all areas of business Management and Finance including Aerospace, Airline Operations, Construction Management, and Legal Finance. She also currently works full-time as the Office Manager for Front Range Asphalt Maintenance.
In her spare time, Karla enjoys spending time with her family and her grandchildren. |
Elizabeth Johnson, Legal AssistantElizabeth is a legal assistant at Craig D. Johnson & Associates P.C. She has worked for the firm in various capacities since 2006. Elizabeth graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Sociology, with an emphasis in Criminal Justice and Victim’s Advocacy.
Outside the office, Elizabeth likes to travel, hang around the pool, and spend time with her family and friends. |
Caren Garcia, Legal AssistantCaren is a legal assistant at Craig D. Johnson & Associates, P.C. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in Finance at the Metropolitan State University of Denver, with a concentration in Financial Services. She has worked in various administrative roles since 2016.
Outside the office, Caren likes to hike, paint, and spend time with friends and family. |
